~ Our work speaks for itself ~ Our customers speak for us ~

The team includes our employees, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Our Employees:

Gary A. Porter, CR, President

Gary attended the University of Cincinnati in the Building Construction Technology program, then worked 1 1/2 years in an architect's office doing drafting, design, and project supervision.

Before starting GAPC, he had 5 years of carpentry experience, ranging from rough framing to interior finish carpentry. He earned certification as a "Rehabilitation Construction Specialist" in 1982 by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. He also was designated a "Certified Remodeler" by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry in 1985.(top)

Lisa, Office Manager

Lisa is new, and is still writing up a short introductory bio so those of you who have not yet talked with her can learn a little about her.(top)

Amiga Katz, Office Supervisor

Heir to Barney Katz, Amiga is his niece from Puerto Rico (it is a long story - ask Gary next time you are talking with him). She is an integral part of our sales team, and is the first to greet clients as they enter our offices and helps keep conferences an enjoyable experience... she somehow manages to defuse potentially tense situations where each member of the family wants a different result from the same design.

Originally brought in to replace her departed uncle Barney, Amiga has expanded from pest control expert and night patrol into being just a general ray of sunshine. We will be posting a picture of our latest addition soon - please check back to meet our sales specialist.(top)

Our Subcontractors:

Whitley Gray

Quiet and soft-spoken, Whitley Gray has been working with G.A Porter Construction since Gary began the company in 1976. Utterly reliable, Whitley is always willing to go that extra step to complete a job on time or make sure our clients are happy with the results. Whether it's demolition, excavation, hauling (light or heavy), clean-up, or many other services - we call Whitley and know that we can count on him to be there.(top)

Dave Buehrle, with Active Electric

Dave Buehrle worked on the very first job that G.A. Porter Construction did, way back in 1976. Dave Buehrle started his electrical contracting business in 1976 also, and the two companies have dealt together since that first positive experience. He specializes in varied electrical needs ranging from maintenance to remodeling to new wiring of both residential and commercial buildings. In 1999, Dave sold his company to Active Electric and still serves G.A Porter Construction - but with a new name.(top)

Our Suppliers:

Requarth Lumber

Most of our wood is purchased from Requarth Lumber, and we have been among their customers since starting business in 1976. Requarth Lumber is primarily a commercial supplier serving the contractor marketplace, and keeps our business with a combination of good service and excellent quality for very reasonable prices. Also, they are one of the very few locally owned lumberyards left in Dayton.(top)
